Category
"Category" is a mechanism for controlling two or more sounds collectively.
The sound designer can set the category for each Cue using the authoring tool.
A maximum of four categories can be set.

Even in a situation where many sounds are being played back by two or more player handles, by specifying the category and changing the playback parameters, only parameters for the sounds belonging to the category will be changed.
Furthermore, playback parameters can be modified for the sound not belonging to any category.
For example, direction where dialogue is emphasized by lowering the sounds not belonging to the "dialogue" category (ducking) is possible.

The following parameters can be set to a category.
  • Volume
  • The number of Cue limits

How to set

There are two ways to link a category to a playback queue.

About categories in Atom library Ver2.20.31 and later

In Atom library Ver2.20.31 and later, when a category is set in a player, the settings on the queue side are not ignored, and they coexist as long as the category groups do not conflict. If the same category is set in a category group, the player settings are applied.

In Atom library versions prior to Ver2.20.31, when a category was set in a player, the category settings set on the data side were overwritten, and the settings on the data side were ignored. If you want to use the previous behavior, set CriAtomExConfig::enable_category_override_by_ex_player to CRI_TRUE when initializing the library.
