CRI Atom Craft can be used to create and play back 3D audio effects in various ways:
It is the module used to perform binaural processing by software.
Binaural processing can be performed in hardware (game console) based using the platform’s OS functions. However, since each platform performs this processing differently, the output between the platforms will differ.
The software binauralizer of ADX can be used to perform binauralization and get identical results on each platform.
To use the software binaural processing via ADX, select the binauralizer in CRI Atom Craft.
Two types of binauralizers can be used:
Binauralizer type | Description |
---|---|
CRI Binauralizer | Binauralizer using headphones virtual surround effects |
Sound xR | Software binauralizer powered by Yamaha Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTF). You can choose from 3 types of HRTF: PCN: The standard HRTF of Sound xR. Recommended when sound positioning is the priority. TC4: HRTF that minimizes timbral variations in the front. However, the sound positioning from the front will be weakened. It is recommended when the goal is to minimize the changes in pitch. TC4A: Similar to TC4. It does not reduce timbral changes as much as TC4, but is recommended for cases where a greater sense of positioning is required (up, down, left, and right in the front). |
